SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Combined Assault continues the popular series with a variety of new additions.
For many, SOCOM: US Navy SEALs was the first game that gave them a taste of network gaming, with a legendary multiplayer mode that spawned legions of dedicated teams. That's a reputation that has remained intact as SOCOM has deployed new instalments on PlayStation 2 and PSP, with the latest PS2 version, subtitled Combined Assault, introducing some great new features to the series...
Networked co-operative play
It's now possible to play through the Campaign mode with four players, online, bringing a new layer of teamwork and strategy to the story-led action. What's more, enemy intelligence has been beefed up, and the action takes place in a huge new Area of Operation, featuring multiple, diverse regions
New and improved network play
Combined Assault takes the much-loved network multiplayer mode from SOCOM 3 and adds new, exclusive maps designed for action-packed 32 player battles. In addition, full community support - including statistic tracking and a detailed ranking structure - make it easier than ever to get involved. There's never been a better time to try network gaming.
Improved Crosstalk functionality
Combined Assault has been designed to complement the latest PSP title, SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2. Each game takes place inside the same Area of Operation, and fulfilling certain objectives in each game can affect progression in the other, by synchronising your PS2 and PSP save data via USB.
New equipment
A variety of new weapons and equipment allow you to tailor your approach to missions, approaching enemies by stealth or all-out force. Non-lethal equipment helps to achieve mission objectives by taking targets alive, and three vehicle classes let you make the approach you want in every situation.
